Crashwise App
We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information the Crashwise App uses and why.
What We Collect
The Crashwise App does not pull hidden data from your phone. Almost everything we process is information you choose to enter when creating an accident report, for example:
Your account details (email, name, password)
Accident details (date, time, description, contributing factors)
Vehicle and driver details (registration, insurance info, etc.)
Witness details (names, statements, contact info)
Photos, videos, audio notes, or attached documents
Accident location (if you allow location services)
Context information (e.g. weather via third-party APIs)
We may also collect basic technical data (device type, app version, crash logs, IP address) to keep the app secure and working properly.
Why We Use This Data
We use the information you provide to:
Generate a complete accident report that you can share with insurers, fleets, or workshops
Help you store and organize your reports securely
Improve the app and road safety by analyzing anonymized accident data
Storage and Security
Data is stored on secure servers in the EU.
All transfers are encrypted.
Sensitive accident data is separated and anonymized for safety research.
Sharing
Reports are only shared with others (e.g. insurers) when you choose to send them.
We do not sell your personal data.
Anonymized data may be shared for research and traffic safety improvements.
Legal Basis
We process data under GDPR based on:
Your consent (when you fill in optional fields)

Website www.crashwise.app
The following applies in addition when you visit our website www.crashwise.app.
Hosting and access data. The website is hosted with Amazon Web Services (AWS); its files are stored within the European Union and delivered through the content delivery network Amazon CloudFront. When you open the site, the hosting provider processes technically necessary access data (IP address, date and time, the file requested, the volume of data transferred, browser type and operating system). The website cannot be delivered without this processing. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We keep no server logs of our own and do not evaluate access data; the hosting provider’s processing goes no further than is needed to deliver the website. We do not combine this data with other data and do not build user profiles. A data processing agreement is in place with the provider.
No cookies, no analytics. The website sets no cookies and embeds no analytics, tracking or advertising services. The fonts it uses are served from our own server rather than a third party. The exception is cookies Google may set after you have started a video (see below).
Contact form. If you use the contact form, your entries — name, email address, optionally company and segment, and your message — are processed through our own infrastructure within the European Union and delivered to us by email. No database is created; the email is the only record. We use the information solely to handle your enquiry and any follow-up questions, and do not pass it on to third parties without your consent. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to entering into a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
YouTube videos. On some pages we embed videos from YouTube; the provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The videos are not embedded directly: at first you only see a preview image stored on our own server. As long as you do not click it, no connection to Google is established. Only when you start the video is it loaded via youtube-nocookie.com; Google then learns your IP address and information about your browser and device, and may store cookies on your device. A transfer to Google LLC in the United States cannot be ruled out. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, given by clicking; you can withhold it by not starting the video. Further information at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Your rights. The rights set out above — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and complaint to a supervisory authority — apply unchanged to the data processed on this website.
